* Do we have to pay for each domain we want certified to
send email?
The answer is a resounding NO! Your BUSINESS will be certified
– just as your business is the iCop member. You may list every
domain that carries your company name as long as they are
hosted on the iCop Hosting server and use your own IP number.
It's a one-time application fee for ALL of them (including
future new domains) (usually just the fee of $10 a month as a publisher) covers
them ALL for certification.
The exception to hosting is if you control your own email server. In that case, you won't
need to host with us, and we CAN get you certified.
* What if an iCop member has many email lists (resulting from
a variety of offers for which visitors subscribed) handled
through different autoresponder services with different IP
addresses?
That email cannot be certified unless the autoresponder
service controls its own server - or is an iCop member and becomes
certified – or is already certified elsewhere. This doesn't
mean you can't become certified for other email you send.
* Will the service just be concerned with the return email
address, the “from” email address or the SMTP server?
The SMTP server IP address. Again, this is why you'll need to
set your email client outgoing (SMTP) email setting to
yourdomain.com. It will then go to the email server on iCop
Hosting and show THAT as the sender in the headers. That's the
IP number that is certified and connected to your domain IP.
* What is the definition for “Publisher” in the certification
categories?
You qualify for the Publisher category if MOST of the email you
send to advertise is in the form of a newsletter or ezine. If
you publish an ezine AND send solo ads, it's okay as long as
the solo list comes from your ezine subscribers list.
* What is the definition for “Bulk Emailer” in the
certification categories?
This is for those who have opt-in lists, but only send out
offers or straight advertising. This also presumes the
subscribers either verify the subscription or are sent a
confirmation email.
* How can a bulk email sender ever comply with verified
opt-in policies? I can understand how they can comply with the
Can-Spam Act but that isn't sufficient.
Even bulk email senders have to acquire their lists someplace.
Simply be sure the lists are acquired using a verified opt-in
process.
* Are co-registration leads and purchased leads out and/or
unacceptable?
We appreciate you may wish to use these leads without
re-verification.  Some people may decide to use a separate
server, on a domain not registered with iCop™ and an IP
you're using for other mailings.  However, we strongly
recommend against this practice.
Keep in mind under the
Trusted Email Sender™ program your business must have zero
tolerance for sending unsolicited bulk email.  Without
re-verification there is a significant risk of you sending
spam, so placing your iCop™ membership and your continued participation in the Trusted Email Sender™ Program in jeopardy.
* The ISIPP rules say we have to have the ability to handle
bounces differently for different ISP's. Do any of the scripts
such as Autoresponse Plus allow for this?
That rules applies to email service providers, rather than
individuals. As an individual, you'll want to follow best
practices and remove addresses after three (3) consecutive
delivery rejections.
* How will the situation be addressed if one or more of iCop
members' web sites are doing mailings thru Ken Evoy's SBI Mail
Out program?
Those mailings won't be certified through iCop,™ unless
Site Sell should decide to enroll in the Trusted Email
Sender™ Program. Again, it's the sending email server
whose IP number must be in the email header and listed in
the IADB database (along with your domain name and IP
number) for certification.
